Terry Grigsby Omaha, NE Obituary-Death: Respected Athlete Sadly Passed Away

The passing of Terry Grigsby of Omaha, Nebraska, has left a deep and painful void in the hearts of everyone who knew him. Sometimes, there simply are no words strong enough to hold the weight of a loss like this. Terry was more than a friend—he was a brother in every sense that mattered, a bond built not by blood, but by loyalty, love, and shared life.

For those who truly knew Terry, they understand exactly what he meant to this community. He carried a spirit that was impossible to ignore—a bright smile, infectious energy, and a positivity that lifted people even on their hardest days. He had a way of making everyone feel seen, valued, and included. That was just who he was.

To me, Terry was my little brother. It’s hard waking up knowing he’s no longer here, knowing that one day I’ll have to tell my son about him—not just who he was, but what it meant to have a brother like that. Someone who showed up, who stayed solid, and who gave his all in everything he did.

I’ll always remember the small, real moments. The jokes, the conversations, the times he came through just to be around. Moments like him asking, “Dang bro, Yana Morgan own the Lakers?” and laughing about it—those memories live on forever. When it came time to do anything—school events, football games, track meets, basketball—I looked for Terry. I always wanted to make sure he was good. And he always was.

He carried responsibility with pride. From Omaha North High School to being trusted with leadership, Terry proved himself time and time again. I was proud to pass things down to him—not just access, not just titles, but trust. Seeing him grow into that, even being able to hand him the crown as Homecoming King, was something I’ll never forget. He earned it through who he was: selfless, dedicated, and real.

It’s hard to accept that this is his final chapter here with us. But his story doesn’t end. Now, it becomes part of us—how we live, how we move, how we carry his name forward. We have to be stronger, better, and more united, because that’s what he would want.

To Momma Griggs and Papa Griggs, know that Terry was deeply loved and respected. G Block forever. His legacy lives on in all of us.

Rest easy, Terry. You’ll always be our brother, and now, our angel.
