PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. — Eastbound lanes of I-74 were shut down Tuesday afternoon after an Aldi semi-truck carrying groceries caught fire just west of Peoria.
The fire was first reported around 4:30 p.m., and the Peoria City/County Emergency Communications Center announced the road closure about 30 minutes later. The closure affects eastbound I-74 at mile marker 87, near the I-474/Illinois Route 6 split.
Illinois State Police are advising drivers to avoid the area while emergency crews handle the situation.
