A major law enforcement response unfolded at Granite Bay High School in Placer County after a reported shooting threat prompted an immediate campus lockdown and widespread concern among students, staff, and parents.
According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, the threat was received around 12:15 p.m., when a caller reported that a male individual intended to enter the school and carry out a shooting. A School Resource Officer already on campus quickly began securing the site, while additional deputies responded within moments.
As a precaution, the school was placed on full lockdown while officers conducted a thorough search of the campus. Nearby schools were also advised to initiate lockdown procedures to ensure the safety of students and staff across the surrounding area.
Authorities have confirmed that, at this time, no suspect has been located and there is no evidence of an active shooter. No injuries related to the threat have been reported. However, the situation remains under active investigation as officials work to determine the origin and credibility of the report.
During the response, a deputy from the Sheriff’s Office was involved in a traffic collision while heading to the scene. The deputy was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Roseville Police Department is handling the crash investigation.
