It is with deep sorrow that we remember and honor the life of Ty Paulichuk, a gifted athlete, dedicated coach, and cherished member of Alberta’s volleyball community. His passing has left a profound void among his family, friends, athletes, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Originally from Vegreville and later based in Edmonton, Ty’s life was deeply rooted in his love for volleyball. As a player, he competed with passion and determination, including his time with the Lakeland Rustlers, where he honed his skills and built a strong foundation in the sport he loved.
Ty’s impact grew even greater when he transitioned into coaching in 2018. From that point forward, he became a guiding force for countless athletes across Alberta. Through his work with clubs and programs such as Volleyball Alberta, he shared not only his knowledge of the game but also his enthusiasm, mentorship, and belief in the potential of every player he coached.
He worked with athletes at every level—from grassroots beginners discovering the sport to high-performance competitors striving for excellence. Whether on the indoor court or the beach, Ty brought energy, patience, and a genuine passion that inspired those around him. His influence extended far beyond technique; he helped shape confidence, teamwork, and character in the athletes he guided.
Those who knew Ty will remember his positivity, his dedication, and the way he connected with people. He was more than a coach—he was a mentor, a role model, and a friend. His presence in the volleyball community was deeply valued, and his absence will be profoundly felt.
As we mourn this loss, we also celebrate the legacy Ty leaves behind—a legacy of passion, mentorship, and love for the game. His impact will continue to be seen in the athletes he inspired and the community he helped build.
