Upper Saucon Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania — A devastating traffic incident on Center Valley Parkway has left the community mourning the loss of 62-year-old Brian McKenna of Bethlehem. The crash occurred late Wednesday morning when McKenna was driving a 2020 Tesla westbound and inexplicably drifted across the center median, colliding head-on with oncoming vehicles in a chain-reaction crash that involved a total of seven cars.

First responders arrived on the scene near the 3300 block just before 11 a.m., finding McKenna trapped in his vehicle. Despite the rapid and concerted efforts of emergency personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other individuals were extracted from the wreckage and transported to nearby hospitals with injuries described as ranging from moderate to serious. Authorities have not yet released their conditions.

Investigators from the Upper Saucon Township Police Department continue to work to determine the cause of the crash. At this stage, it remains unclear whether a medical emergency, mechanical failure, or another factor caused McKenna’s Tesla to cross the median. An autopsy has been ordered to provide further insight into the circumstances surrounding his death.
