Authorities are investigating a deadly domestic violence incident in Blount County, Alabama that unfolded on March 19.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, a deputy responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a home on Beaver Trail in the Warrior area. Upon arrival, the deputy encountered a man—later identified as Ricky O’Neil Beck Jr., 43—driving away from the scene.
Officials say Beck allegedly brandished a firearm at the deputy and struck the patrol vehicle with his car while traveling along Mountain Lake Road. The deputy discharged their weapon during the encounter, prompting an officer-involved shooting investigation. Authorities have not confirmed whether Beck was hit by the gunfire.
Beck fled the scene, leading to a manhunt. He was later located in a wooded area with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Inside the residence, deputies discovered the body of Shelby Amidon, Death, Obituary, Fatal Domestic Violence Shooting Under Investigation in Blount County, 29, of Warrior, who had been fatally shot.
No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.
The case remains under active investigation, and officials say additional details will be released as they become available.
