Death, Obituary, Driver Killed After Truck Goes Airborne in Kansas City Crash

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A driver was killed Friday after his pickup truck went airborne and overturned on Highway 71 in Kansas City.

Officers arrived to find a beige Chevrolet Silverado that had been traveling northbound from Bannister Road.

Investigators say the driver left the roadway for unknown reasons and entered the grassy median near the Rock Ridge Quarry. While attempting to regain control, the truck traveled down a concrete embankment separating the southbound lanes, became airborne, struck a guardrail, and flipped.

First responders pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
